The Otherside Metaverse is back and this time, it’s bigger and better than ever. Tomorrow, the “Second Trip” will open its doors, allowing a broader range of players to experience the metaverse for approximately 90 minutes. In this post, we’ll walk through some of the key details, recap the First Trip, and preview what users can expect when the Second Trip opens tomorrow.
The Otherside Second Trip Key Details
If you’re planning on exploring the Otherside, there are a few things you need to know. First and foremost, not everyone can just hop around the Otherside. To take part in the Second Trip, you must be an Otherdeed NFT holder or have a guest code. Each Otherdeed holder can generate one guest code, so be sure to reach out to your NFT-owning friends.
The official link to the Second Trip will be provided by Yuga Labs on launch day (Saturday, March 25) via a blog post and on Discord. The event will officially start at noon ET, but the Infinity Space (the game lobby) will open at 11:30 a.m. ET, so don’t be late!
Recap: The First Trip
It’s been almost a year since the Otherside Metaverse hosted its “First Trip,” a test-drive of the unfolding metaverse for Otherdeeds NFT holders. At the time, approximately 4,500 Otherdeed holders were able to concurrently explore Yuga Labs’ creation, running around the Biogenic Swamp chasing a Koda and more. The event was seen as a massive success, with many showing their support on Twitter.
Fast forward one year, and things have generally been quiet for the Otherside Metaverse. But now, Otherdeed holders will have an opportunity to explore the Otherside once more, this time with more lands, new features, and some teammates and friends.
Squads
Yuga Labs has announced four notable captains that will guide users through an objective once in the Otherside. Players will be broken into four separate teams, led by Jimmy Wong, Brycent, Lowbellie, and Champ Medici. No official details of the competition or objective have been released yet, but it’s understood that users will need to be able to work together with their captains if they wish to win.
Win or lose, all those that participate will be eligible for the Obelisk First Trip “badge,” a metadata property that will be updated at the conclusion of the event. Those who already received the piece will see no change on their Otherdeed.
Bring your Friends
In addition to teammates, holders of Otherdeeds can generate one guest code for a friend upon launch. This is a great opportunity for those who may not have a high-priced NFT to explore the Otherside. All your friend needs is a web3 wallet, and they’ll be ready to go.
While the Second Trip can handle more than the 5,000 participants of the First Trip last year, holding an Otherdeed NFT does not guarantee access to the event. Yuga Labs did not specify exactly how many users will be granted access, and there is no public load test prior to the start of the event. Users will be allowed entrance on a first-come, first-served basis based on their regional location.
Otherdeed NFT holders can only join once and only have approximately five minutes to re-join if they are disconnected at any point during the event. Be on time! No one will be allowed into the Second Trip after the event starts. Guest codes can only be redeemed once, so use them wisely. Finally, not all geographic
