The Overlord NFT initiative is being used to create a game at Revolving Games, which is supported by Dan Houser, who was instrumental in launching Rockstar Games.

Do you have reptile people? To create a video game set in the Overlord environment, which includes brightly colored reptile NFTs, the Web3 project Overlord has partnered with Revolving Games, a company funded by Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser.

In an interview, Overlord co-founder Dom Smith revealed that the unnamed sci-fi game will cover numerous worlds and realms and will be “cross-chain from day zero.”

“The game is an immersive exploration of the Overlord universe where players will be battling their way to interplanetary domination through skill, strategy, and cunning,” Smith said.

There will be numerous extraterrestrial civilizations, each with its own lore, for players to encounter.

“Each species has their own motivations and skills, and due to their unique abundance of resources and technological advancements, have different styles of conquering their enemies,” Smith said.

Overlord’s Web3 gaming approach puts interaction ahead of game economics, and Smith says that the team is “laser-focused on mainstream adoption.”

“The blockchain has to be invisible,” Smith said. “Players should get all the brilliant benefits of asset ownership and on-chain mechanics without necessarily being aware that it is happening on-chain.”

“To us, blockchain is a technology, in the same way that Unity or a development language is,” he added. “It should facilitate the play experience invisibly.”

In February, Overlord announced that it is collaborating with Stoopid Buddy Studios and NFT enthusiast and actor Seth Green to develop an animated series based on the Creepz Lizard NFTs, which debuted on Ethereum in January 2022 and have generated over 35,800 ETH worth approximately $65 million today in total trading volume.

According to Overlord’s game deck, the Creepz collection is owned by a number of celebrities, including Green, Sia, Steve Aoki, Elijah Wood, FaZe Banks, and YouTuber and gamer FaZe.
