MoonPay has announced that it will collaborate with director, producer, and photographer Julie Pacino on her upcoming film I Live Here Now. This organization will serve as a Co-Executive Producer.
The film is Pacino’s first time directing a full-length movie. It is based on her 2021 NFT photography collection with the same name. It is the first NFT-native photography IP to be turned into a movie.
Keepers of the Inn, Pacino’s follow-up album to I Live Here Now, helped pay for the movie. It hasn’t been given a release date yet, but MoonPay says it will be out “soon.”
Pacino, a longtime advocate of NFTs and Web3, became a household name in the field after the release of I Live Here Now and Keepers of the Inn in August 2021. In the same year, Pacino was invited to participate in TIMEPieces’ Build a Better Future Genesis drop, which increased her visibility and drew attention to the fact that photography was finding a home in Web3 circles.
Pacino was able to see how her characters changed over time through the photographs in the I Live Here Now collection, which led to her making a full-length film. The psychological horror story behind the project is about a struggling actress who has to deal with childhood trauma coming back to haunt her. The main character runs away to a hotel in the woods, where she meets a strange and mysterious person who makes her question what’s real.
Even though this will be Pacino’s first full-length film, she has already made a number of well-received short films for her production company, Tiny Apples. These include Hard Work, Nowhere to Go, and Harmony in Gold.
Pacino has consistently advocated for the use of Web3 technology in the film industry, believing that NFTs liberate all types of creatives from dependence on large production studios and crowdfunding platforms.
How does moonpay fit into this project?
MoonPay is sponsoring the new film “I Live Here Now” and aims to onboard as many individuals as possible to Web3. Recently, the company acquired the creative agency Nightshift and renamed it Otherlife.
MoonPay hopes that its participation in the film will increase brand and mission awareness. Tom Capone, the head of entertainment at MoonPay, praised the filmmaker Julie Pacino for paving the way in Web3. Pacino is also collaborating with MoonPay on an NFT portrait series entitled Hollywood Mornings.
