The creator of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, David Maisel, is spearheading a new digital art collection from Mythos Studios that features the work of renowned comic book artist Michael Turner.
Mythos Studios is a company that makes entertainment based on intellectual property (IP). It was started by David Maisel, who was also the first director of Marvel Studios. The Ekos Genesis Art Collection is now on display in a virtual gallery at http://ekos.io .
The non-fungible token (NFT) collection includes original artwork from the late comic book artist Michael Turner and his frequent partner Peter Steigerwald, who became famous for their work in Marvel and DC comics as well as illustrating series for Turner’s Aspen Comics.

Mythos Studios has a 50% stake in Aspen Comics and also owns the intellectual property that makes the business work. The Ekos Collection is about characters from shows like Fathom and the show’s name, Ekos, which was Turner’s last project but hadn’t come out yet when he died.
Since 2003, Maisel, a longtime admirer of Turner’s work, has been accumulating it. Each NFT is based on Michael Turner’s original line art and adds color inspired by various elements, including the Pop Art movement, black light posters, and neon lights.
“We’ve worked so hard to create this Ekos Genesis Art Collection and we’re now extremely excited to give people a chance to own this Ekos-inspired 1-of-1 original hand-crafted digital art. This wouldn’t be possible without Web3,” David Maisel said.
In 2021, a two-piece digital collection of Turner’s work sold for $100,000. It had the original line art and the released colored cover of the first issue of Fathom.
The Ekos Genesis Art Collection will launch a Dutch auction of 995 1/1 NFTs on May 2 at 10 a.m. PT. The date is significant to Maisel because it represents the 15th anniversary of the release of “Iron Man,” the film that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Dutch auction will last 88 minutes, with bidding beginning at 10 ether (ETH) and decreasing by 0.5 ETH every four minutes until it reaches 0.5 ETH. In the final eight minutes of the auction, if the collection has not already sold out, the price will decrease to 0.2 ETH.
Before the Dutch auction, people who want to purchase NFTs can put down a deposit beginning on April 24 at 10 a.m. PT. Anyone who invests 10 ETH before May 1 can get a piece of Ekos Genesis Art.
