Yorkshire County Cricket Club partners with Virtua on Metaverse

The Yorkshire County Cricket Club will work with the Metaverse platform Virtua for the rest of the 2022 season and after that (YCCC).

Starting today, fans will start to see Virtua’s logo at both local and international matches at YCCC’s home stadium. As part of their partnership, Virtua and YCCC are looking into putting together a number of NFT collections for fans, including things that money can’t buy.

Through the deal, Virtua will work with another well-known British sports brand. The company became the official metaverse partner of Williams Racing earlier this year. Its logo can now be seen on the side of Williams’ Formula One racing car and on the drivers’ uniforms.

One of the 18 first-class county cricket clubs in the UK, Yorkshire plays its home games at Headingley in Leeds. Joe Root, Katherine Brunt, and Jonny Bairstow, all of whom play for Yorkshire CCC, are often picked for England’s main team.

Virtua was started in 2017 and is a gamified metaverse platform and the industry’s leading NFT marketplace. It works with well-known companies and intellectual properties to create premium NFT collections and gives businesses and people access to the metaverse.

Jawad Ashraf, the CEO of Virtua, said, “We’re excited to be partnering with Yorkshire County Cricket Club, and discussions are already taking place around what could be our first NFT collection. Following Williams Racing, it’s another great partnership for us to explore activity that will transition into our soon-to-launch metaverse.”

“Virtua is the right partner to work with as we try to take Yorkshire County Cricket Club to the next level of fan interaction and the metaverse,” said Andy Dawson, Chief Operating Officer of Yorkshire County Cricket Club. We’ve been interested for a long time in what NFTs can give our fans in terms of real-world value and the metaverse.

Virtua is holding a contest to give away five pairs of VIP tickets to the one-day international between England and South Africa on Sunday, July 24. This weekend, the two groups will work together. Follow the Virtua Twitter page to find out more, and read the rules below to find out how to enter.
