Polygon is joining Disney’s NFT AI Accelerator program

Polygon has been making waves the current year, pledging to be the initial carbon-free blockchain and hosting different NFT projects. Currently, it’s making headlines for another reason: becoming the only native blockchain in Disney’s accelerator program.

In a statement on the accelerator program’s website, Disney names Polygon as one of only six companies involved in the short incubator. The others are Flickplay, Inworld, Lockerverse, Obsess, and Red 6. Flickplay and Lockerverse are the only two others which are obviously native to Web3.

This year’s accelerator program will concentrate on “building the future of immersive experiences” via AR, NFTs, and AI characters. This program is about business development, or the way that a company can use these technologies to create lasting stories, which is what people know Disney for.

All the companies chose to join the program will get guidance from Disney’s leadership team, and Disney assigns a dedicated coach to each team. There will be a Demo Day in the fall where teams will likely share what they have been working on during the program.

The program’s general manager, Bonnie Rosen, stated that “for about one century” Disney has used new technologies to create “future entertainment experiences.” He added that the Disney Accelerator program would continue this legacy and bring magical stories to Disney fans for the following 100 years.

Polygon will make waves in 2022

Polygon has been in the news a lot in 2022. It is one of the few blockchains which have publicly targeted harmful releases of the technology. Numerous projects have selected Polygon for drops due to its low fees and environmental friendliness. Below are three titles from Polygon’s world in 2022, beginning with its manifesto.

A few months ago, Polygon announced a Manifesto, stating it would become the world’s initial “climate-positive” blockchain. To accomplish this, it revealed different changes, involving tracking every transaction and buying more carbon credits.

Five months ago, Dolce & Gabbana chose Polygon for its DGFamily NFT drop. The NFT collection creates three separate kinds of membership where members would get a combination of digital, physical, and experiential prizes.

Thereafter, Prada and Adidas were collaborating for an NFT drop on Polygon, a drop which allowed fans of the company to submit their own designs. This was the third collaboration between the two companies, but the initial which used NFTs and the metaverse.

With this recent news of Polygon joining the Disney Accelerator Program, surely the blockchain will continue to work even in a bear market.
