The Web3 company that makes next-generation commerce solutions for creators in music, sports, and lifestyle announced today that the next installment of their ongoing SI Covers NFT program will honor Muhammad Ali, the G.O.A.T. and a good person. On June 27, 2022, the new Sports Illustrated x Muhammad Ali NFT collection will be available for a limited time on eBay and oneof.com.

Ali’s 40th and final Sports Illustrated cover will be honored by the NFTs with a series of designs that show action figures of Muhammad Ali doing his signature moves in the ring. These figures will be animated in 3D. There will be NFTs from the green, gold, platinum, and diamond tiers, each with its own price and rarity.

Michael Sherman, VP of Media at Authentic Brands Group (ABG), which owns the Sports Illustrated brand, said, “It’s possible that no other athlete in history has a legacy more tied to Sports Illustrated than Muhammad Ali.” ABG also owns Muhammad Ali Enterprises, which it shares with Lonnie Ali, who is the trustee of the Muhammad Ali Family Trust. “Sports Illustrated has told Ali’s story many times, and this NFT collection is a great way to honor his life and work.”

Joshua James, co-founder and chief operating officer of OneOf, said that Muhammad Ali is one of the most important cultural figures in both American and world history. “We couldn’t be more proud to honor his legacy with this digital collection, thanks to our partnership with Sports Illustrated and our work with eBay.”

The Sports Illustrated x Muhammad Ali NFT collection, which is available through OneOf’s ongoing partnership with eBay, starts at $22 and will be available for a limited time to eBay’s community of more than 142 million active buyers.

“eBay’s collectibles offering has been unmatched for more than two decades,” said Dawn Block, VP of Collectibles, Electronics, and Home at eBay. “The first NFT collection we made with OneOf sold out in a matter of hours, and we know that the Sports Illustrated x Muhammad Ali NFT collection will be just as popular, as a new generation of collectors continues to combine their passions with investments.”

OneOf was made to help fans connect in a deep and real way with their favorite musicians, athletes, and brands in music, sports, and lifestyle. The partnership between OneOf and Sports Illustrated takes these connections and the traditional “buyer-seller” relationship on both platforms to the next leveL.
