Jason Derulo steps into Web3 with DCL activation

The singer of “Talk Dirty” is stepping into the metaverse. On June 27, Jason Derulo revealed a collaboration with TerraZero technologies to produce a Decentraland music video experience. Below are all the details of this upcoming “activation”:

• This experience will revolve around the remake of Derulo’s “Slidin” music video in Decentraland
• Users can go to the location of the music video in DCL and style the location
• Derulo’s fans can connect with the singer in the DCL
• A lucky fan will get a pool party at the music video venue, with a date and time TBA
• The Derulo event will officially air on June 29, 2022.

Derulo stated that he would have “given everything” to have that kind of connection with his idols as he grew up. The metaverse and the experiences it brings to people are “something unique.” He adds that this new activation will give the fans the opportunity to see him in a more personal way, who he is beyond the speakers and the screen.

Dan Ritzick, the CEO of TerraZero Technologies, stated this the metaverse experience is just the start of what skilled artists such as Derulo can perform. According to Reitzik’s, artists can perform for many people in a metaverse, with that number which is limited to face-to-face performances.

Derulo’s presence in DCL before the event will enhance the opportunity for fans to connect with the singer. TerraZero Technologies is reportedly set to capture these moments under the story called “Limitless Worlds,” that the company feels evokes the sense which these moments couldn’t occur in any other medium.

Musicians go to Web3

Though most industries have turned to Web3 in some form or fashion, music deserves a special mention. Musicians have been involved in various aspects of Web3, like the metaverse experiences, leading companies into this unknown realm, or owning NFTs and participating in their communities. Below are three examples:

Initially, Charli XCX lately collaborated with Samsung to create a metaverse experience in Roblox. Users could play small games and decorate a virtual scene. The winners could dance on stage with Charli XCX at the concert.

Second, Rihanna’s company Fenty Beauty registered trademarks for Web3 a few months ago. These trademarks paved the way for Rihanna to sell cosmetics in the metaverse, perhaps via some store.

Ultimately, Eminem and Snoop Dogg performed at ApeFest, the unique once-a-year party for BAYC NFTs holders. Plus performing at the concert, they both have their own BAYCs, that they use as profile photos on Twitter.

Time will show how the Derulo’s experience will go, but surly that more musicians will be participating in Web3.
