MetaMask, which is one of the most popular and widely used cryptocurrency wallets, said on Tuesday, May 24, that it would add Coinbase Pay. The news comes soon after Coinbase said that Web 3 developers would be able to use its payment infrastructure in their dApps.
This means that MetaMask is the first external wallet that Coinbase Pay can connect to. This is what the notice says:
“We’ll soon be integrating Coinbase Pay into MetaMask as a method of transferring & purchasing crypto. @Coinbase is launching this integration with MetaMask first as they roll out to the web3 ecosystem! This integration is another step towards our goal of making crypto easier to purchase within MetaMask.”
Users of MetaMask will be able to use the Coinbase Pay integration in the next few weeks. After that, customers can use the crypto they already have in their Coinbase account to quickly buy more crypto using their payment information, such as bank accounts or debit cards, which are kept in their accounts.
Coinbase pays Web 3 programmers
This month, Coinbase launched its Coinbase Pay platform to make it easier to move money around the Web 3 ecosystem. The goal was to make crypto payment systems that work well with other types of crypto, like DeFi, NFTs, and so on.
Even though the DeFi and NFT markets have been growing recently, it is expensive for new retail companies to get into these markets. Customers have to send crypto manually, log in to many dApps, and copy their wallet addresses, which is time-consuming and leaves them open to making mistakes. Coinbase Pay aims to fix most of these problems for customers.
Coinbase says: “Coinbase Pay is the powerful new way to purchase or transfer crypto to a wallet or app in a few clicks to be ready to dive into DeFi or purchase an NFT. Customers can use their existing crypto balances or purchase new crypto using the payment information saved to their Coinbase accounts, such as debit cards and bank accounts. This simplified fiat-to-crypto conversion makes the world of web3 far more intuitive and accessible.”
