Thai man wins lottery with help of AI chatbot

In a recent lottery win, a Thai man utilized the services of an AI chatbot called ChatGPT to generate a two-digit number, resulting in a prize of almost $60.

The story has become viral, sparking debates about whether it was good luck or science that led to his victory.

Patthawikorn Boonin utilized ChatGPT, an advanced AI language model that has been programmed to engage in conversations on a wide range of subjects. However, it should be noted that ChatGPT’s training does not include the ability to make predictions about the future.

In a recent development, Boonin has managed to find a way around the chatbot’s initial reluctance to participate in the lottery. As per reports, he was able to generate four two-digit pairs, namely 57, 27, 29, and 99, which he subsequently played in the Thai Government Lottery. Much to his amazement, the winning number of 99 was drawn, resulting in him receiving the cash prize.

Sparking debate on Luck vs. science

It is important to note that the core of any non-rigged gambling game depends on randomness.

Algorithmic randomness is a process that utilizes mathematical algorithms known as pseudorandom number generators (PRNGs) to simulate random events. However, this process is not entirely unpredictable as it depends on initial values or seeds.

Despite the apparent randomness of number sequences generated by PRNGs, there is a possibility that artificial intelligence could predict the outcomes of these algorithms by analyzing large quantities of generated data.

Even though artificial intelligence has made great strides in many areas, it still can’t predict who will win the lottery. This is because real randomness is inherently unpredictable, making it impossible to guess what will happen in a lottery.
