The Weeknd just purchased a piece by Vancouver artist Fvckrender for $70,000.

To the tune of $70,00, Toronto native Abel Tesfaye purchased 47 NFTs from up-and-coming tech-digital artist Fvckrender.

Fvckrender, a Vancouverite who made headlines earlier this year when he tried to exchange his Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs for a house, claimed that The Weeknd approached him directly to purchase the digital artworks.

Fvckrender stated, “We FaceTimed about a week ago because he and his team were interested in acquiring some of my art,” “I was stoked because I love The Weeknd. It makes me feel good to see another Canadian supporting my art. At the end of the day, I’m just happy people enjoy my work.”

Having a fellow Canadian champion at my work warms my heart. All that really matters to me is that others like what I create.

The Weeknd bought a 1/1 NFT from FvckRender via SuperRare, while he bought the rest of the cards through the secondary market on Opensea. These are pieces from the FVCK AVATAR and FVCK CRYSTAL collections.

The transaction was announced by The Weeknd on Twitter on Monday, where it received a variety of reactions. Some were against the deal.
