OpenSea unveils the new Solana NFT Launchpad

OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace, has been full of surprises in 2022. For example, it introduced a new interface and raised millions of dollars based on a $13.3 billion valuation. It has now said that the Solana launchpad will be available for the first time. It wants to offer a multi-chain experience.

A blog post from OpenSea says that the launchpad will allow Solana NFT developers to host an NFT mint from start to finish, including pre-minting, minting, and sales after the mint.

Solana NFT developers and holders will also be able to have better control over their Solana assets. Some Solana markets take Solana NFTs out of wallets during the selling process, but OpenSea says very clearly that it will never “hold” or “escrow” NFTs while the holder advertises the NFT for sale. OpenSea will now show new Solana collections right away.

Zoonies’ 8,888 NFT collection and the story-based Monkai NFT project are the first two Solana NFT collections to be shown on the launchpad. On July 20, NFTs for Zoonies will be available, and on July 26, NFTs for Monkai will be available on OpenSea.

The launchpad comes just a few months after OpenSea added Solana to its NFT platform. The popularity of Solana NFTs is probably what pushed the company to do this. Okay Bears, DeGods, and other top Solana NFTs are now available on OpenSea’s platform. Others see OpenSea’s work as a good start, even though it has a long way to go before it can compete with Magic Eden.

In 2022, Solana will be busy

Even though the crypto market has been down for months, the blockchain Solana and the companies that work with it have stayed busy. In the last two months, Rarity Sniper has written three articles about Solana.

Solana made a big announcement about a month ago at an event that happened at the same time as NFT.NYC. It said that it was making a Web3 smartphone that would come out in the first quarter of 2023. The “Saga” phone would have 512 GB of storage, a place to buy and sell decentralized apps, and a safe place to store a “seed word.”

A month ago, Solana Labs also said that it would put $100 million into South Korea’s Web3 economy. South Korea is making a lot of progress in Web3, and Solana Labs wanted to put money straight into Web3 and metaverse gaming.

Then there was some news about sports in Solana. Three months ago, Rarity Sniper told everyone that Solana NFT collection DeGods had bought a basketball team in Ice Cube’s 33 league. The DeGods team bought “25 Fire NFTs,” which meant they owned 75% of the team and got special benefits like championship rings.

The Solana launchpad from OpenSea is important because it shows that more big NFT companies are taking blockchain seriously. Rarity Sniper will closely watch any changes that happen to the Solana blockchain.
