The renowned sports drink brand, Gatorade has officially released its initial NFT series with OneOf and Vayner3. “The Gatorade Game Changers: Athlete of the Year” NFT series will be available especially on the OneOf NFT marketplace. Via this series, Gatorade plans to expand the impact of its Gatorade Player of the Year (POY) program. In addition, hopes to boost the Athlete of the Year ceremony to be held on July 19, 2022.
What is the Gatorade NFT series?
Basically, the Gatorade Game Changers: Athlete of the Year NFT program has two main pillars. The initial in this NFT pack is the Gatorade Athlete of the Year. Gatorade will announce the first NFT cards in packs of three NFTs. Additionally, these will be randomly chosen from national POY athletes.
In fact, these NFTs will help immortalize the recipients of the 2021-2022 Gatorade Player of the Year award on the blockchain. These awards, in particular, are given to the most excellent high school student-athletes.
The description of the collection states: “Each of these athletes have overcome many obstacles and adversities to become pillars in their community and have gained great success on the field and in the classroom.”
The open-edition of the NFT Series will be held for 3 days on OneOf from July 18-20. Each pack costs $5 (0.00327 ETH) and has no gas fees. In addition, the brand will donate the revenues from the first and 8% of the secondary sales of the series of the Good Sports charity. Good Sports supports equitable entry to youth sports by supporting children in high-need communities.
The second pillar of the NFT’s Gatorade Game Changers: Athlete of the Year program concentrates on giving back to the athletes. As part of this, the brand will airdrop NFTs to the athletes’ personal wallets. The NFTs are 10 “Athlete Original” custom edition collectibles of their own card.
In total, the NFT series features 12 National 2021-22 Gatorade Players of the Year. This involves Averi Carlson (volleyball), Riley Jackson (girls soccer), Jacob Murrell (boys soccer), Kiki Rice (girls basketball), and Grady Dick (boys basketball).
