Tommy Hilfiger, an American clothing company, won’t be at New York Fashion Week for the first time in three years, but it will be back this fall with a show that combines a real catwalk with the metaverse.
The IRL event is scheduled for September 11 at the Skyline Drive-In in Brooklyn. It will also be live-streamed to Roblox’s community of more than 50 million daily users. During the event, avatars in the metaverse will wear Hilfiger’s Fall 2022 clothes and take over a “remixed virtual metropolis of New York” while Hilfiger shows off its latest “See Now, Buy Now” collection.
Hilfiger worked with eight Roblox users who make their own content to make 2D and 3D versions of virtual fashion items for the digital assets. The fashion line will only have digital items that can be bought on Roblox, and it will be sold all over the world.
The Fashion Week experience will also continue in cities all over the world after the event is over, thanks to multi-media brand activations at a few Tommy Hilfiger stores. The collection is said to have been inspired by the creative spirit of New York.
Tommy Hilfiger has already shown clothes at a fashion week for the metaverse. In March, the company took part in Metaverse Fashion Week in Decentraland.
The Metaverse is in style.
Tommy Hilfiger isn’t the only fashion company in the game, but it’s clear that it’s positive about Web3, NFTs, and the metaverse. Rarity Sniper says that this year, a number of fashion companies have put money into Web3 products and services.
Here are some of the most interesting things Rarity Sniper has to say about Web3 and fashion:
The first Dior clothes for men to be sold on Baidu Metaverse
For the NFT Art Gallery, SuperRare and Gucci work together.
Lacoste is launching the “UNDW3” NFT Community.
Prada will no longer use NFTs that have to do with clothes.
The Metaverse Experience is a joint project between Gap and Roblox.
Louis Vuitton will come out with a new NFT collection.
The metaverse is giving fashion brands new chances to try new things by letting them show off new trends to people all over the world and sell virtual clothes and accessories in the form of NFTs. It will be interesting to see if Tommy Hilfiger’s collection is as original as it says it is, though it is definitely in line with the new Web3 style that is taking over the fashion world right now.
