Manchester City collaborates with crypto exchange OKX

The English football team Manchester City lately released that it has cooperated with the crypto exchange OKX as their official training kit collaborate for the coming 2022/2023 season. As part of the deal, the OKX logo will be displayed on the training gear for the men’s and women’s clubs.

OKX and Man City initial signed a deal in March, soon after the club cut ties with former Web3 partner 3Key Technologies. OKX is a well-known cryptocurrency and derivatives exchange based in Seychelles.

With the release, OKX commissioned a collection of murals featuring Manchester United players Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Joao Cancelo, and John Stones in various locations in Manchester. The works were generated by the Global Street Art Agency and famous street artist Akse P19 and will feature QR codes fans can scan for an opportunity to win season tickets in the OKX Hospitality Box.

Besides, the previous week, the football club revealed that OKX would be the presenting partner for the team’s 2022 trophy tour, that will bring the Premier League to Spain, France, UAE, Korea, Mexico, Norway, and South Africa. Additionally, games will be streamed on Roblox, a gaming metaverse, and feature immersive perks and experiences.

Through the collaboration, OKX hopes to boost the fan experience, deliver educational initiatives related to Web3 and crypto, and generate programs to empower the Manchester community.

More Web3 moves in football

Manchester City‘s deeper dive into Web 3 comes as no surprise to those who have been following Web 3 news. Just a few months ago, it was reported that Man City were planning to build the initial football stadium in the Metaverse to allow fans around the world to tune in virtually. And Manchester City is not the only football club investing in emerging technologies.
