Ryder Ripps and Pauly told the court that Louis Tompros and Alfred Steiner are the WilmerHale lawyers who are defending them in the BAYC case. The two have been involved in other legal cases involving NFT, such as Matt Furie’s Pepe case. The group will go to court together with its controversial NFT BAYC case against Yuga Labs.
In the BAYC case, who is Ryder Ripps’s lawyer?
Ryder Ripps released a statement on July 13 about the new lawyers who would represent him and Pauly in the controversial BAYC lawsuit. The main lawyer is Louis Tompros of the WilmerHale law firm. Unexpectedly, he had recently defended Matt Furie, the creator of Pepe the Frog, in copyright lawsuits involving NFT. Tompros went to Harvard and knows about deep fakes, copyright laws, and memes.
So, Alfred Steiner from the law firm Meister & Steiner is in court with Tompros as his co-counsel. Steiner went to Harvard and has worked in copyright and intellectual property for more than 20 years.
In their BAYC complaint against Yuga Labs, Ryder Ripps and Pauly will be represented by the two lawyers at the same time.
Yuga Labs is against the RRBAYC NFT collection for what reason?
The Ryder Ripps BAYC (RRBAYC) NFT collection shows how Ryder Ripps felt about the first Bored Ape Yacht Club members. Basically, he has been making BAYC-related items under a new line. Even so, he still uses the same Bored Ape characters to make fun of the OG BAYC. Here, you can find more information about his plan.
Yuga Labs then filed a lawsuit against Ryder Ripps for “infringement of trademark, unjust enrichment, and misleading promotion.” To be clear, Yuga Labs said that Ripps used their trademarks in an unfair way.
