Paris Saint Germain is selling NFTs for matches in Japan

Paris Saint-Germain, the champions from the French Ligue 1, is selling 3 unique NFTs which double as tickets to its future friendly matches in Japan later the current month.

The NFTs will celebrate the club’s initial visit to Japan since 1995, and special gifts will be offered to three lucky fans who buy the NFTs.

Below are more details about the NFTs:

• Only 3 unique NFTs will be on sale on the team’s official website until Wednesday
• The NFTs are priced at 180.36 Ethereum, which is more than $205K at present rate.
• The NFT allows access to the VIP room and a VIP party where the NFT owner can take pictures with PSG players.
• in addition, there will be collectible NFTs to celebrate the tour taken from videos, messages, and images from the tour.

The initial match will be held on July 20 against Kawasaki Frontale in the J1 League. Fans lucky enough to catch a match should not be disappointed. The powerhouse French football club is packed with stars, involving Neymar Jr., Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos, Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti, and arguably the best player in football history, Lionel Messi.

In addition, this is not the initial time PSG has welcomed Web3 and NFT. In June, the team released an NFT series with Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou to celebrate its tenth league title, and previously in the year, the Argentine legend Messi reported that he would join SPG as part of his transfer package in cryptocurrency fan tokens.

Web3 adoption by sports on the raise

Web3 tech, as NFTs, is changing the way sports teams, leagues and superstars communicate with fans, inspiring major investments in the space. Probably no other sports league has been as bullish on Web 3 like the National Basketball Association (NBA), that released its own NFT marketplace Top Shot in 2020 and hasn’t stopped moving in Web 3 since. Anyway, football is not far behind.

Below are some latest titles about soccer and Web3:

• Italy’s Serie A brings soccer to the Metaverse

• Premier League of football is minting NFTs in Sorare
• Manchester City is building the initial football stadium in the Metaverse
• Neymar purchases BAs #6633 and #5269
Paris SG is producing a rare Lionel Messi NFT
• FC Barcelona is engaging fans via Metaverse and NFTs

Though most Web 3 advertising revolves around the metaverse and digital experiences and goods, one of the most exciting uses of NFTs is linking them to in-real- events, experiences, and products. This makes a lot of sense in sports, where teams and leagues can provide exclusive experiences and utilities, such as player meet-and-greets, associated with their NFT tickets.
