The UAE is taking the metaverse to another level, releasing the initial metaverse hospital to offer medical tourism services.
The metaverse hospital will be managed by the Thumbay Group, a healthcare provider which has now started working on the project. The virtual hospital will be a place where guests can visit using avatars and get connected with virtual doctors and healthcare physicians.
As stated by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, founder of the Thumbay Group, the hospital will release before October of the current year. In addition, the hospital will represent the Thumbay healthcare center, so patients interested in medical tourism can see what the facility seems like visiting previously.
The Thumbay hospital provides long-term care patients entry to augmented and virtual reality metaverse technologies, and uses cameras to recognize patients’ car license plate numbers and faces before they enter the building to streamline the check-in process.
The UAE is bullish on the metaverse
The metaverse hospital is far from the country’s initial venture into Web3 and the metaverse. The previous January, the AE’s Ministry of Health and Community Protection (MOHAP) released the world’s initial customer service center powered by metaverse tech. The experience is more attractive and meets the needs of customers in 3D spaces in a user-friendly way.
Another news that was reported from this wealthy Middle Eastern country involves UAE Airlines releasing NFTs in the Metaverse and presenting Bitcoin payments to their network.
Finally, Sharjah’s House of Wisdom in the AE hosted an international NFT art exhibition between March and April of the current year, which featured more than 60 international artists and 15 local artists. The event aimed to place the House as a leading creator in the digital art space.
Obviously, the AE is not the only country which is big on Web3 and the metaverse. We have also witnessed heavy South Korean investment in Web3 space and powerful NFT adoption in the Philippines.
We will have to wait and see if medical tourism customers will benefit from the new virtual hospital later this year. But if succeeds, metaverse hospitals could become a trend of the future.
