Bored & Hungry Restaurant no longer takes cryptocurrencies

The end of the cryptocurrency is making it less appealing at the restaurant that is based on it.
The Los Angeles Times says that the new burger place Bored & Hungry, which is based on the idea of nonfungible tokens (NFTs), no longer accepts cryptocurrencies as payment. When asked by the Los Angeles Times, a worker at Bored & Hungry said, “Not today. I don’t know.” The person didn’t say when the decision to take cryptocurrency off the list of payment options was made, and they didn’t know if cryptocurrency payments will come back.

One employee told the Los Angeles Times that most of the restaurant’s customers didn’t seem to care about crypto payment options, and that “the restaurant’s dedication to the crypto cause” didn’t seem to bother them either. Another customer of the Bored & Hungry restaurant said, “The people who have Ethereum want to keep it. They have no plans to use it.” Customer Richard Rubalcaba said, “I’m not sure how crypto purchases would work with the collapse.” When it first opened, the restaurant was in the middle of the Web3 craze. The prices of food items were listed on the menu in both US dollars and some cryptocurrencies. But just two months after being the first restaurant to accept ETH and ApeCoin, it has been said that the current volatility of the crypto markets has caused the restaurant to temporarily stop taking crypto.

At first, the restaurant had all the styles of the crypto-age, like walls covered with memes and cutlery with Bored Ape NFT art. This meant getting used to the idea that digital money could be used to pay for real goods. The restaurant’s menu items and their prices in both US dollars and cryptocurrency were listed on the menu. After a few months, there won’t be anything on the menu about cryptocurrencies. In reality, prices for all products are only shown in US dollars. The Times tried to talk to owner Andy Nguyen about the sudden change, but they couldn’t reach him. An anonymous employee also said that they didn’t know when or if the business would start taking cryptocurrency again. At the moment, that just isn’t an option.

Many of the customers at the restaurant said they don’t like crypto and just come here for the food. “This is as good as, or maybe even better than, In-N-Out,” said a customer, Jessica Perez.
