Cross-border restrictions and a growing war made it necessary for the Ukrainian government to understand the value of cryptocurrencies, as it kept getting money in the form of crypto and nonfungible tokens without any breaks (NFT).
As part of the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to help the country’s people and the country as a whole, a CryptoPunks NFT that was donated on April 20, 2022, will be sold for 90 Ether (ETH).
On March 1, 2022, 0x165cd3 paid $31,722 for the CryptoPunk 5364 NFT and gave it to the Aid for Ukraine campaign, which got the piece of art. On April 27, less than a week after it was given to Ukraine, the NFT got the biggest bid to date: 100 ETH, worth $288,414, which was worth more than any other bid.
On June 19, Ukraine sold CryptoPunk 5364 to a buyer in the US for 90 ETH ($102,640). It’s important to note that 0xc08f6d, the buyer, paid $103,523 for Ethereum gas.
Ukraine is the third country outside of the European Union to join the European Blockchain Partnership (EBP). After this decision, the country plans to build its interstate blockchain network with other countries.
The CEO of Virtual Assets of Ukraine, Konstantin Yarmolenko, spoke with Cointelegraph and confirmed that Ukraine wants to set up an EBSI test node and prototype use cases for cross-border public services based on blockchain technology.
During the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, it was also said that crypto donations “prove[d] to be a very important help.”
“Next step is full blockchain integration of Ukraine and EU based on EBP/EBSI initiatives.”
