The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine said the nation’s action to enlist the EBP as a viewer on June 17. With the supreme purpose of incorporating its digital economic area with the EU, Ukraine schemes to improve its interstate blockchain network cooperation with other nations.

Ukraine’s purpose to enlist the EBP dates back to July 2021, when Oleksii Zhmerenetskyi, the head of the Parliamentary group, Blockchain4Ukraine, and Konstantin Yarmolenko, the producer and CEO of Virtual Assets of Ukraine, composed a message to Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission. The message announced Ukraine’s involvement in enlisting the EBP and the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI). von der Leyen later verified the prospect of Ukraine’s acquisition of the EBP as a viewer.

Talking to Cointelegraph, Yarmolenko noted Ukraine’s concern in operating test-node of the EBSI and pilot practice issues of the cross-border social assistance founded on the blockchain technology. He brought out that the cryptocurrency payments during the Russia-Ukraine war “ verified as crucial assistance,” stating:

“Next point is full blockchain integration of Ukraine and EU established on EBP/EBSI initiatives.”

After struggling with the EBP on blockchain pilot usage trials as a viewer, Ukraine intends to progress to full membership.

Yarmolenko further disclosed that Ukraine is dreaming of more blockchain cooperations to empower the inhabitants of Ukraine with cross-border social services encompassing confirmation of educational credentials/diplomas and personality credentials and refugee/asylum signup and assistance.

While dealing with elements of the cooperation, Yarmolenko asserted that the action to enlist the EBP is a way to enhance links with the EU, expanding that “I’d even name it blockchain integration with EU.”

Besides, bringing up one of the goals of the EU-wide blockchain cooperation, Zhmerenetsky feared that Ukraine’s acquisition of the EBP would lessen the distinction of Ukrainian reports for higher education and driver’s permissions for Ukrainian refugees in Europe.
