Satoshiverse: The First Linked Wearables in Decentraland
The Satoshiverse, which is an outside NFT collection, is the first to turn their NFTs into Linked Wearables, making the new features in Decentraland a reality.

As this tutorial explains, the Linked Wearables feature was first added to Decentraland in April as a result of a DAO proposal. Linked Wearables are 3D models of NFTs that don’t belong to Decentraland that can be used in-world as Wearables. But they are not normal Wearables. They aren’t in normal Wearable collections, aren’t special, and can’t be bought on either the main or secondary Decentraland market. They are just in-world copies of NFTs that exist outside of the game.

This new feature is so appealing because bringing an outside NFT collection into Decentraland as Linked Wearables has many benefits. Here are some benefits for both the people who use the NFT collection and the NFT project itself:

NFT owners can now wear and show off their NFTs at Decentraland, which makes them more useful.

Adds a social element and a sense of belonging to ownership: NFT owners can meet other people in their NFT community and talk to them in person.

Decentraland is a ready-made platform for a community. It can be used to hold community events or even house an HQ.

With an average of 500,000 users per month, having your NFT collection in Decentraland will automatically make it more visible, which could lead to more opportunities and growth.

Nico Rajco, who is the dApps Product Manager for the Decentraland Foundation and was a big part of getting the new features built, had this to say about the process:

“It was a pleasure to work with the Linked Wearables Foundation.” I got to see one of the first steps toward NFT project interoperability, which is the real future of the metaverse, for myself. Linked wearables are interesting because they give holders of different NFTs more ways to use them and bring new communities to Decentraland. Many more third parties are already working with us to bring in their collections as Linked Wearables, so this is just the beginning!”

The Satoshiverse collection was the first to go through the curation process for Linked Wearables. This was made possible by a large group of people who wanted to see what Linked Wearables could do. Nick, one of their co-founders talks about why they chose to be the first to offer the feature. Here are just a few:

Nick think when he heard about Linked Wearables, he was pretty excited because it combined all of his hobbies, what he did before joining Decentraland, and what they were doing at the time with Satoshiverse. They Wethe thought that making Linked Wearables as part of their collection would be a great way to introduce Decentraland to people in their community who may not know about it or have never been there before. This would make it easier for people to talk to each other and connect with their NFT avatars in ways they couldn’t before, which he think is really cool.

What are the advantages and uses of connected wearables in your area?

Nick thinks the main benefit and value of Linked Wearables for their society is the social features they offer. He likes how someone who has one of their NFTs can now go to Decentraland and feel like they are a Legionnaire there. They can really wear their outfit and move around in it. But he thinks the feature will be useful in the future when they use it to hold events for their Decentraland community. ” We’re building a headquarters in Decentraland that will hopefully have streaming, music, and other great features so that our community can meet up and hang out there and really start to take part in these amazing metaverse events. This could be the first step toward working together,” added Nick,

In terms of interoperability, they want to work more closely with all of these other metaverse platforms and give their community members tools that let them join in different ways. sSince Decentraland is the biggest decentralized blockchain-based metaverse on the web, Nick thinks it’s a great chance for people to connect to the Satoshiverse in a lot more ways. They can keep their linked wallet and use their Legionnaires in some way, but only in this environment.
