TAG Heuer, a Swiss watchmaker, has created an NFC-compatible wristwatch

TAG Heuer has worked with the nonfungible token (NFT) ecosystem around Bored Ape Yacht Club and CLONE-X to make a smartwatch that shows NFTs and connects to crypto wallets like MetaMask and Ledger Live.

The company that makes the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 says that it will be easy to use. NFTs will be sent to it through a linked smartphone. The watch can display both static and moving NFT art, and multiple NFTs can be sent at once. TAG Heuer says that artwork from NFT can be changed and put into three different watch designs.

In a TAG Heuer blog post, they explain what the smartwatch can do now and how it handles NFT artwork and displays.

“Some NFTs are still images, and some are animated GIFs. TAG Heuer’s watch face will support these formats in crisp detail, with animations looping infinitely.”

The watch will also be able to connect to the blockchain and verify the NFTs that the wearer has created. TAG Heuer says this about the functionality in their statement: “The picture of verified NFTs is a hexagon with a cloud of particles orbiting around it.”

All Tag Heuer Calibre E4 users will be able to get this new NFT feature for free through Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

TAG Heuer is continuing to grow in the Web3 space by hiring an in-house team of engineers to work on projects related to blockchain. In May, TAG Heuer teamed up with BitPay to start accepting Bitcoin (BTC) and eleven other cryptocurrencies, including six stablecoins that are tied to the US dollar. Bulgari, Jacob & Co, and others have all put NFT watches on the market in the past few months, showing that the idea isn’t completely new.

In 2021, NFTs were all over the news, and each one sold tens of millions of copies. Even though the market is unstable and NFT prices are falling, sales are said to be stable.
