RTFKT collaborates with Byredo on a wearable metaverse perfume

Byredo and RTFKT are Nike-owned, RTFKT Studios lately tweeted an NFT collaboration with the Swedish perfume company Byredo. According to the recent information, the two brands are working on “Perfume of the future in Web3”.

RTFKT’s 21-second ad just shows the names of the two brands under a spill of clear liquid. The given link to “alphameta.rtfkt.com” brings visitors to a page with the same collection of perfumes and links to RTFKT social networks.

In a recent article from Vogue Business, RTFKT suggested that its new ‘Web3 Perfume’ uses a combination of NFT and “near-field communication” (NFC) tech to bring scents from the metaverse to real life. Seemingly, when customers design an NFT perfume, it will link with NFC codes to copy the chosen ingredients in a real product.

In addition to being associated with IRL fragrances, Byredo and RTFKT are creating virtual displays of distinctive fragrances. Latest reports indicate the art studio M/M is cooperating with RTFKT and Byredo on 26 “ingredients”, each associated with a specific “emotion”.

It also looks like anyone with one of RTFKT’s Clone-X NFTs may have an odor (known as “Clone Aura”) airdropped in their wallet.

Benoit Pagotto, co-founder of RTFKT, likened the creation of these new “NFT fragrance” to the creation of a “video game potion.” Pagotto also stated that the creator of the NFT perfume is one of his “favorite” future projects, and that Byredo is the “ideal partner”.

Here, RTFKT just says that it will reveal more details on its NFT perfumes shortly. Anyway, the Vogue Business report indicates that more information will be released in July.

Apart from Yuga Labs, RTFKT Studios is undoubtedly the largest company in the NFT world. Definitely, this brand’s collaboration with Nike played an important role in consolidating its large corporate position. Nevertheless, RTFKT has built its reputation on producing some of the most creative PFP and wearable NFTs.

For example, Nike and RTFKT dropped the extremely successful “CryptoKicks” sneaker NFTs earlier the current year. According to Nike Dunks, these “CryptoKicks” can evolve, grow, and change their style depending on what “Skin Vial” NFT holders use.

RTFKT’s Clone X collection has become one of the most desirable PFP NFT series’ as well. To add more immersion to its Clone X ecosystem, RTFKT lately demonstrated an augmented reality experience in New York and Los Angeles museums.

Given RTFKT’s successful track record in different Web3 projects, its “Web3 scent” will surely be unique.
