Neal Stephenson, the author who originated the term “Metaverse” 30 years ago, is creating a blockchain project named LAMINA1 which will concentrate on the Metaverse.
Neal Stephenson changed his concept of Metaverse, indicating that the experience will more likely focus on flat two-dimensional screens rather than virtual reality or augmented reality tech like headgear and glasses, as suggested by Meta and Microsoft.
Stephenson is a renowned academic fiction writer who, in his 1992 science fiction novel Snow Crash, discovers the concept of a virtual reality realm called the Metaverse. Plus writing, the 62-year-old worked from 2014 to 2020 as a senior futurist at Magic, an augmented reality (AR) company.
Stephenson and OG crypto and previous head of the Bitcoin Foundation Peter Vessense have formed a new Layer 1 blockchain called LAMINA1, which they think will act as the “base layer for the Open Metaverse”, depending on a June 8 announcement from Vessense.
Vessenes stated that the network will “maybe” be carbon negative and that it will “prioritize” builders, both technical and innovative, as well as help, dimensional computing tech, and a community to support those who are building the Metaverse.
Here, there are few details about the project, nevertheless, Joseph Lubin, one of the founders of ETH, is among the early supporters of the initiative.
According to Vessenes, Neal brings his ambition, wisdom, knowledge, and some of his main goals to LAMINA1: “Helping artists and other creators of well-paid work helps the environment.
As he seeks to get “best government, technology, node operators, IP partners, artists, business partners, and money,” he said that he will soon focus on having the blockchain off the ground.
As Stephenson state, metaverse is a virtual central environment which can be entered by a world-wide fiber-optic network and virtual reality headsets. This book deals with socio-economic inequality, centralized control, relentless advertising as well as the virtual concept, real estate Advisor.
Earlier today on Twitter, Steffson voiced his thoughts on the Metaverse and predicted that most Metaverse would be built for monitors instead of VR headsets. When Stephenson first wrote about it three decades ago, he did not expect high-quality video games to become widely available to customers in the future.
