Web3.com and the Chicago Cubs have agreed to work together

A recent Survey article says that the Chicago Cubs are working with Web3 startup Valence to look into the business potential of NFT and the metaverse. Valence staff says that Web3 will be used to give Cubs fans more immersive experiences.

Valence doesn’t know exactly how the Cubs would use Web3, but he thinks that loyalty tokens could be used to get discounts on tickets, souvenir baseballs, and face-to-face meetings with players. Augmented reality could also help Cubs fans have a better time at Wrigley Field when they go to a game.

Valence thinks that it will make it easy and quick for clients to make, trade, and collect Cubs NFTs. Web3 is also making a secure NFT wallet and a virtual gallery where Cubs fans can show off their digital memorabilia. In the future, collectors may be able to show off their favorite NFTs on the big screen at Wrigley Field.

But Valence wants Chicago Cubs fans not to get too excited yet because it is still subject to MLB approval.

The chairman of the Chicago Cubs, Tom Ricketts, invested a lot of money in Valence earlier this year. Forbes says that Valence is a project built on Ethereum that uses a layer 2 solution called “AliceNet.”

The MLB is making important moves in the metaverse

If you read Rarity Sniper News often, you may remember that the MLB said the Cubs were thinking about joining the Web3. But at the time, the MLB was more interested in promoting Digital Truist Park, which was a historic metaverse project.

With help from Epic Games from Fortnite, the Atlanta Braves made a copy of Truist Park in the metaverse. In mid-May, the Braves invited some fans to bring their in-game avatars to the first-ever digital MLB stadium. Shortly, the Braves and MLB want to add more interactive things to Digital Truist Park.

And that isn’t the only thing the MLB has done in the Web3 area. The MLB is working with the company Sorare on an interactive NFT-based game, which is the most important thing. This new game, which will come out this summer, will let players use NFT trading cards to make their ideal fantasy baseball team.

Sorare already runs a successful NFT fantasy soccer game based on Ethereum. If the players on their NFTs do well in real games, people who play the MLB Sorare game, which is similar to a popular soccer game, might get rare digital items.

Even if you don’t like fantasy sports, the MLB has a lot of collectible non-fantasy trading cards (NFTs) that you can buy on Candy Digital. Rarity Sniper has already said that there will be a lot of “MLB ICON Leadoff NFT” drops in June. The MLB also keeps making “Play of the Day” NFTs, which show short clips from the history of MLB.

Since the Braves and Cubs have joined Web3, MLB fans will have even more ways to connect with their favorite teams.
