A San Francisco-based organization, Friends of Harvey Milk Plaza, is working to make a safe environment for the LGBTQ + community. Hence, it has collaborated with Grammy Award-nominated artist Serge Gay Jr. and well-known photographer Danny Nicoletta.
The digital art collection created by the partnership honors Harvey Milk’s legacy. Besides, earnings from the NFT auction will go to redeveloping the redesigned Harvey Milk Plaza in San Francisco. This neighborhood is internationally known for LGBTQ + activities and the home of the late Harvey Milk.
The Pride month special NFT Auction begins on May 23, Harvey Milk Day, at 9:00 AM Eastern Time. The auction will also continue until June 1, the beginning of Pride month, at 3 PM Eastern time.
Meantime, the auction, includes two exclusive series’. The initial one is from May 23 at 9 am Eastern time to May 30 at 9 am Eastern time. Therefore, the second one is planned from May 25 at 3 pm ET and June 1 at 3 pm ET.
“As an artist, my strongest power is my art, and I am proud to give that power to this movement and FHMP,” stated Serge Gay Jr. “Digital activism, like our NFTs, can be used to empower modern-day movements and make changes. The struggle for LGBTQ + rights can generally seem repetitive. At times, under the weight of all these attacks, it appears like we are moving backwards. We have to fight to break the pattern.”
