MONOLITH Gallery is an open curating platform that reimagines the gallery experience. Artists and collectors are asked to submit pieces from their collections to be shown in one of the many rooms designed by world-renowned artists. Its goal is to raise artist recognition while also illustrating the advantages of curating and what a great curator can do. @Reuben Wu, @caitcronenberg, @OmarZRobles, @NatalieShau, @Selayout, @aaronhuey, @dguttenfelder, @enixsta, and @daria daria14 are among the nine exceptional artists who have announced the Gallery’s opening.

It’s a platform he launched in April to raise not just the awareness of curators, but also the visibility of more artists.

A curation may be submitted by anybody who owns or has constructed an NFT. To submit a curation, sign in with your Metamask wallet and proceed to the Curation section. You may apply at any time since it is a rolling admissions system.

where the idea comes from?

Monolith was inspired by the idea that they are in a metaverse where there are no physical boundaries and they may make anything they desire. Why build the same four white walls as a traditional gallery? The gallery’s creator, Chikai Ohazama, came up with the concept of using the earth’s landscape as the gallery and using augmented reality technology to make art fall from the sky like a monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Give 2001: A Space Odyssey the respect it deserves.

He recognized that the AR version was too far away, so he had to focus on what he could do today. As a result, he requested landscape photographers to use their photos as a proxy and then run the program remotely over the internet. Why not produce 3D and other art as well, I wondered as he started? As a result, he started reaching out to all of these other people to help him build these halls. The effect was amplified by the artist who constructed the space and the artist who was exhibiting their work in that hall. People were so ecstatic to have their work displayed in each other’s halls that it created a bond between them.

Instead of a billionaire paying for a whole museum wing and having it named after them, an artist donates a piece and is treated the same as the billionaire, receiving the hall’s name. I like applauding and acknowledging artists in the same way that we have done for the wealthy. Giving the artist the same degree of respect as they deserve since they are doing something valuable, but it is their labor.
